Short description:

Lila can’t help herself — she’s addicted to sex. You’d think most men would love a sex addict for a wife, but noooo, instead of taking advantage of his amazing situation, Lila’s husband sends her to therapy so she can get some help. Except poor Lila just sits in group and can’t think about anything but the fact that she hasn’t been laid in six weeks. Her desire is raging–a hungry, wanton beast. If she doesn’t get what she wants, what she needs, she’s going to explode! And even though she’s properly turned down the advances of a handsome, potential sponsor, she can’t help herself when she meets a mysterious stranger in the parking lot who promises to show her that recovery is a waste of time.

My review:

I know about addictions; real addictions, so the title of this book caught my attention.

Let’s start by admitting that it is real: addictions cannot be cured simply because you want to, there is a lot more to it than just mind power, so I sympathize greatly with Lila when she succumbed to the man. That part is real.

But, the title of the book was, “confessions” – plural, so I was expecting more than that scene.

I thought I would learn about Lila’s struggles – plural, her ups and downs, getting better and feeding her addictions and finally, either winning or choosing to embrace her inner demons, which did not happen. It fell short of my expectations that way.

But it was well-written. The narration was smooth, and Lila was realistically portrayed. The sex scene was hot. So, I’m giving it 3 stars.

3 out of 5 stars in my book.

Blog Hop Winner Announcement

Thank you for participating. It was wonderful having so many of you visit my humble abode.

The winner is Sophie Knob. You got me at getting the intellectual high part. Congratulations! Feel free to revisit.

Valentine’s Day Blog Hop

My first blog hop. Who would have thought that I could be a virgin again at this age?

It being Valentine’s Day and all, let’s talk about attraction. I can’t speak for all men, but ladies, even for a full-blooded man like myself, it fucking is actually about the personality, not how sluttily you dress. You can have a jaw-dropping cleavage, but if you’re obviously dumb or high-and-mighty cocky, I can lose my hard-on in an instant. Nothing beats a smart, classy woman who knows what she wants and isn’t afraid to show me. If you’re shy, write me a note that says, “Fuck me.” Knowing you are shy but seeing you still communicate that you want me in your own way turns me on even more.

There is such a thing as intellectual high. A woman showing her brain power can make me want to literally fuck her brains out, and some more.

Then there is honesty. If ever there is a woman who can tell me point-blank that she is attracted to another guy and list the reasons, I’m not getting mad. I may get jealous, but in a way that’ll make me improve and earn her and fuck her even harder. While that’s happening, reciprocate. Don’t go crazy because I admire other women too. If I can tell a woman that I’m attracted to another woman because of certain things, it means I truly trust her and feel that she is mature enough to know the difference between my appreciation of other people and my ability to control myself.

One of these damn days, I want a woman who is sure enough of herself, of me, of our relationship to be able to discuss everything with. A woman who I never have to filter my thoughts with, to be myself with.

That’s my ideal of an attractive woman. Be my valentine?

Book Review: A Table for Three

This is about A Table for Three by Lainey Reese.

Short description:

She’s taking two bites out of the Big Apple.

New York, Book 1

Riley Ramirez knew that moving to New York would change her life. She just didn’t expect it to start on her very first night in town. Her attraction to nightclub owner Kincade Marshall is instant, mind-blowing—and mutual. When she finds he is a Dom who requires her complete surrender, even when it comes to submitting to his best friend, Trevor Wellington, she finds herself willing and eager to embrace the sexual adventure.

From their earliest days, Cade and Trevor have shared everything, including women. Yet it only takes one night with Riley to know she is their forever lady. Convincing her that this is more than a temporary fling, though, will take every tool in their sensual arsenal.

As Cade and Trevor set their sights on Riley, however, they’re unaware—until it’s almost too late—that someone is targeting their fragile relationship. Someone who’s taking deadly aim at Riley. Suddenly their struggle to keep their forever woman is a fight to keep her alive…

Warning: This book contains m/f/m ménage, bdsm play, lots of steamy p.d.a, and a fine dining experience that will leave you salivating for more.

My two cents:

This was done right.

An adorable girl ripe for picking, moulding and training. Submissive and willing but not blindly obeying, sweet and cute but with a voluptuous body to play with, gets a man’s pants tight in the right way.

Her two men are adept in the game. It’s a wise choice that they are best pals, and each has a distinct style which appeals.

It might have been a stretch that after just one night, both men could have decided that Riley was perfect for a long-term relationship, but the story progressed well enough to compensate for that.

The many sex scenes were hot, well-written and depicted a growing level of trust amongst the three. I especially liked the blindfold and “swing” scene.

A riveting read. I’ll be back for more, Ms. Reese.

5 out of 5 stars in my book.

Book Review: Brie’s First Day of Submissive Training

This is about Brie’s First Day of Submissive Training (Brie, #1) by Red Phoenix.

Screen Shot 2014-01-28 at 9.19.12 pm

Short description:

Brie’s life changes the day Sir comes to her tiny tobacco shop. His invitation to The Submissive Training Center is about to rock this young woman’s world. The renowned school is famous for its submissive instruction. She has no idea the things that will be asked of her or the boundaries that will be pushed. Join Brie on her first day of training where true Subs are separated from the wanna-be’s.

This steamy novelette follows Brie as she is introduced to the erotic world of submissives and her own true desires.

My review:

This was part 1 of 9 in the story of Brie. There is a full-novel set of the same story, where you can read it all in one go. I guess the author wrote it in parts to publish bit by bit as it was formed over time, but 9-part series is quite a stretch.

Part 1 was for free. That made sense: hook a new reader. I thought book 1 could include a bit more, but for what I read, it was tantalising. The narration flowed naturally. Brie was likeable and you could sense potential in her becoming a very expert submissive from the start.

The anal “teasing” scene was well-written, it was consistent with Brie’s state of mind at the time and the gradual awakening and her discovery of what she’s capable of made a satisfying read.

I would continue on to the next books; this holds promises.

4 out of 5 stars in my book.

Book Review: Sweetest Mistress

This is about Sweetest Mistress by Skye Warren.

Screen Shot 2014-01-24 at 10.32.17 pm

Short description:

In a weak moment of honesty, Wyle divulges his deepest desires. He doesn’t want to possess Melissa, he wants to worship her. Together they explore with a hot spanking, scorching phone sex call, and a humiliating anal play session, but the true test of his limits comes in a form neither of them expect.

Sweetest Mistress is an erotic romance novella featuring explicit sex, BDSM, and graphic language. Not intended for those uncomfortable with the subject matter or under eighteen.

My two cents:

A guy in his 40’s going out with a hot girl much younger than he is, sounds lucky? He’s insecure and has a tiny problem in the bedroom… but guess what, the sweet girl he’s dating turns out to be more than just sweet, she has just the right cure for him.

Lucky bastard, that’s what I was thinking when I read it.

Melissa is very believable, adorable and damn fuckable. The whole story was convincing and genuine. I enjoyed it a lot and finished reading it in a very quick go. The BDSM elements were light and not forced at all, good job, Ms. Warren. I’ll be checking you out again.

5 out of 5 stars in my book.

Book Review: Meet Me

This is about Meet Me by Azure Boone.

Screen Shot 2014-01-24 at 11.27.47 pm

Short description:

Tasha feels safe in her online affair. Plus she’s broken no hard moral rules. But that all changes when her cyber lover types those two forbidden words: Meet Me.

My review:

A 42-year-old Christian woman with 8 kids whose husband is a preacher. I was waiting to see how Ms. Boone would make this work. The fact that her husband cheated helped it along, but it sounded a bit sad that Tasha could be so easily turned on by a man in only two weeks’ time and just a few photos of his “backside”.

If there had been more of a sexual adventure or awakening it would have been more enjoyable, but there hadn’t been.

The ending was ridiculous.

The only redeeming factor is that Ms. Boone writes clearly and the narration flowed well. She describes herself as a paranormal romance writer on Twitter, I sure hope her paranormal novels are more convincing than this.

Pity, but this one didn’t work.

2 out of 5 stars in my book.
